VAN THIEL & CO.

CRAFTSMANSHIP
“The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.”
Albert Einstein
We have invested enormous amounts of times to master our finishing procedures, and we are not close to reaching the end. Still, we have developed the most authentic recreations of old-world finishes - a painstaking task that only VAN THIEL & CO. can do.
“The challenge is not losing the soul and the heart of the original piece.”
Rudy Jr.
We choose partners all around the world that can work with us and translate into production the beautiful handmade pieces that we make in our own workshop.
“It is so characteristic that just when the mechanics of reproduction are so vastly improved, there are fewer and fewer people who know how the music should be played. “
Ludwig Wittgenstein
Although we have the innovative resources of a large and modern manufacturer, we choose to work with a small group of select retailers from around the globe. This allows us to capture the imagination with artisanal craftsmanship that is rare and remarkable.
Our inspiration comes from years of studying the history, culture, and stories engrained in antiques, while our finished products are the result of a creative eye for clean and modern design.
This combination sets us apart and enables us to capture your history, your culture, and your story while helping advance your unique position in the marketplace.

Our design philosophy can be described as traditional craftsmanship. We use age-old construction techniques and diverse materials deployed to serve your modern designs.
Some of our partners still work with century-old techniques such as melting solid brass to create amazing “jewelries.”
"Eight-Way Hand Tied” Is the basis for our Artisanal Upholstery’s luxurious, deep-seated comfort.
Hourglass-shaped coil springs are secured to a base of interwoven non-stretch webbing. The springs for each chair or sofa are chosen based on their gauge and height, then strategically positioned and secured to the webbing for an ultimate ride.
The springs are tied together across the top utilizing strong synthetic twine and pulled flat to create a level platform. The result is each coil spring having eight knots holding it in place. This is the almost forgotten craft called “Eight-Way Hand Tied.”
All frames are constructed from premium-grade, kiln-dried solid hardwoods. Wood types are selected specific to a design to achieve the desired aesthetic and required construction details.
